The old guys can still hit!

This week my dad and I get the opportunity to volunteer at the U.S. Senior Open at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, WA.  Today was the first day and we were positioned at the back of the clubhouse overlooking the putting green.  It was a pretty slow day as there weren't too many people coming through our entrance which allowed us time to watch some of the guys practice putting and hitting balls on the range.  Overall it was a great day hanging out with my dad and I was able to get some fun shots of the course and players. The last time I was out on the golf course taking photos of professionals was at the 2009 Masters.  Boy I wish I could go back there someday!  I'm still waiting for Augusta National Golf Club to call me and ask to be one of their official photographers!  I'll keep dreaming!

A clean room is a happy room!

As many of you know my wife took a job last year teaching art at Seattle Christian Schools.  This was her first teaching job and very different than the architecture job she had previously.  Her first few weeks teaching were a little scary for her and I think she was just trying to survive.  After a while I think she really got the hang of it and started to get in a groove.  However, over the course of the school year Mandy became very particular about where certain art supplies went and quite mean when it came time to cleaning up at the end of class.  I heard stories about students wanting to switch out of art and into an english or history class.

One of the last days of school I thought I'd drop by to see how her class was going and say hi to a few of the students.  I could not believe what I saw when I walked in.  Mandy had painted her face like a maniac and was threatening me with a brush and bottle of paint.  I snapped a few shots and ran out.

I came back after she had calmed down.  Luckily I was able to take the last photo below of Mandy after I had helped her clean up the mess.  It's amazing what a clean room will do to cheer her up.  Just a word of advice for all you SCS students about to take her class next year....clean up after class.  You can thank me later!
